The Partagas brand was founded in 1845 by Spanish immigrant, Don Jaime Partagas y Ravelo, after he built the factory in Havana, Cuba. His goal? To create the greatest cigar in the world.
The brand was a huge success, so much so that Don Jaime went on to buy up the best tobacco plantations on the Island, including those situated in the lush and fertile rejoin of Vuelta Abajo.
By the 1950s, Partagas was one of the best selling Cuban cigars in the world, a legacy that continues to this day with the brand coming second only to another one of our favourite brands, Montecristo.
Following the Cuban Embargo, the Partagas name was split between two separate and competing companies. The first line is a range of Cuban cigars produced by Havana SA whereas the second line is made in the Dominican Republic for the General Cigar Company.
Despite competing with one another, these companies both continue to produce astounding cigars of the highest quality to keep the Partagas name alive.
Partagas remains one of the best selling cigar brands in the world.
